Evoke Nominated for MM&M Hot Shop Award

To celebrate the launch of the annual “Agency 100” issue and recognize the accomplishments of some of the featured industry leaders, MM&M is hosting its inaugural “A Night Out with MM&M” event on Thursday in New York City. Evoke is nominated for the Hot Shop Award, which recognizes the agency that not only has revenue and client numbers worth shouting about, but also receives the highest marks from clients and the competition.

To get an inside perspective, we asked a few of our newest hires and longest serving team members—people who have helped shape the company—for their ideas on what they think makes Evoke a “Hot Shop” and, more specifically, how the characteristics driving this recent recognition are rooted in the earliest days of the agency.

Collette Douaihy, Chief Creative Officer
“I’ve never been more excited about joining a team of such diverse capabilities, skill sets, and passions. I have witnessed incredible dedication, passion and most of all, team spirit. If there’s anything that I’ve learned over the years, it’s to elevate what's possible, so that together we can create opportunities that have the greatest impact.”

Alix Critchley, Planning Director
“I was attracted to Evoke by its reputation for unexpected, insightful creative solutions that clients loved—because they work. To me, it’s an agency built with integrity, that actively encourages and takes different viewpoints seriously in pursuit of more effective solutions. And clients can feel that in every interaction with us. It also makes it a great place to work.”

David Garson, Executive Creative Director
“The future will not be kind to a lot of agencies. While Evoke has been on my radar for some time, the recent growth, acquisitions, and account wins made me take a closer look. It’s an agency that is poised to be the type of full-service partner the future is demanding—entrepreneurial, creative, strategic—with the digital and tech chops to back it all up.”

Gaby Maniscalco, Senior Planner
“I had heard how strong the teams were at Evoke, and specifically about their success in winning new clients. But what really set Evoke apart was when I came in for my interview. Everyone I met with was welcoming, smart, and down to earth. It was refreshing to have an interview where you felt like you already knew the person you were talking to. Now, being part of the team, that sentiment still rings true. I feel surrounded by really talented people and am excited to be part of such a strong team.”

Ronnie Abel, Senior Account Director
“Evoke was home for almost six years. When I had the opportunity to return, I could not have been more excited to come back to these new marketing challenges, awesome clients, and a dedicated leadership team that remains committed to its mission to ‘humanize’ healthcare. I was craving this great talent, authentic work product, and respected culture, which I had experienced at Evoke early in my career.”

Heather Linnell, SVP, Group Creative Director
“As one of Evoke’s first employees, I’ve seen so much change, but the things that make this the coolest place to work have remained the same through it all. It’s about talented colleagues plus daily opportunities to learn and create, in a place where we have the chance to get agency- and industry-wide recognition.”

James Tsuyuki, SVP, Technology
“It’s always been about the work we deliver to clients. Our approach is to find solutions that are right for them. Putting the brands first makes us better partners to our clients, the vendors and agencies we collaborate with, and even within our own teams. People feel that and it makes a big difference.”

Tom Donnelly, Chief Growth Officer
“There’s a real focus on relationships here—with our clients and our people. Both of those were key to our growth early on and continue to be a driving force in Evoke’s current success. It’s how we attract such great talent and in turn drives our growth in numbers. But growth is about more than that. Each win is the result of how we’ve grown in so many other ways. Clients need the talent of great people. And they need an agency that is diverse and able to support them across the board.”
